note to self via the Puritans

I read this Sunday morning, and it resonated with me.

“O my forgetful soul,

awake from thy wandering dream;

turn from chasing vanities,

look inward, forward, upward,

view thyself,

reflect upon thyself,

who and what thou art, why here,

what thou must soon be.

Thou art a creature of God, formed and furnished by him,

lodged in a body like a shepherd in his tent;

does thou not desire to know God’s ways?”*

Yes!  Indeed I do.

Singing this song today–  “Disturb my slumber until I find my rest in You. Wake me up!”

*from The Valley of Vision, A Collection of Puritan Prayers & Devotions, The Awakened Sinner. p. 36

Song by Pete Geiger, creative director for worship at Northland, A Church Distributed.
