my Christmas prayer

O, to have a heart like Mary’s- open, willing, responsive

O, to have a heart like Joseph’s – righteous, courageous, obedient.

O, to have the holy fear and wonder of the shepherds, interrupted by the visit with an angel, changed by their encounter with the Savior.

O, for the seeking spirit of the Wise men, searching for the Promised King, ready to bow down and worship

O, for the exuberance of the angels, proclaiming Glory to God! the moment of redemption so near

O, for the unrelenting love of God, pursuing relationship with us despite our fickle hearts.

May this Christmas be a refreshing life-giving time with Jesus.

May God grant you the willing obedience of Mary and Joseph,

the fear and wonder of the shepherds,

the seeking spirit of the Magi,

the joy of the angels in proclaiming His birth,

and a greater experience of the depth and breadth and height of the love of God for each of us.

Merry, happy, joyous Christmas to you!
